Oardinary Buoys back on dry land

Oardinary Boys Race Finish Photograph

Congratulations to the Oardinary Buoys, who have successfully completed their transatlantic rowing journey, arriving safely on dry land after 41 days, 13 hours, and 3 minutes at sea. The team finished 2nd in their class and 8th overall among 38 teams.

The Oardinary Buoys, made up of Teacher Dafydd Helps-Fursse, Royal Engineer Richard Wilkinson, and Competitive Rower Scott Brown, faced towering waves of up to 20ft and expended over 5000 calories per day. Throughout their voyage, the Oardinary Buoys rowed tirelessly day and night. They encountered marine wildlife, including whales and dolphins, and celebrated a birthday, Christmas, and the New Year aboard their three-man vessel.

Oardinairy Boys Team

Lighthouse is excited to announce a fantastic partnership with the Oardinary Buoys, who are gearing up to row across the Atlantic Ocean to support their selected charities and to inspire young people to embrace a life of adventure.

A UNIQUE CHALLENGE

Oardinary Boys Row 3000 Miles

The Oardinary Buoys made up of Teacher Dafydd Helps-Fursse, Royal Engineer Richard Wilkinson and Competitive Rower Scott Brown, will face towering waves of up to 20ft and expend over 5000 calories per day.

Throughout this demanding journey, the team’s physical and mental resilience will be put to the test as they navigate turbulent waters, endure sleep deprivation, and face complete isolation.

This 3000-mile expedition attracts teams from across the globe and is part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, organized by The World's Toughest Row. The row is set to kick off on December 12th in La Gomera, with the team expected to reach Antigua roughly 40 days later. You can track their progress on The World's Toughest Row's website.

INSPIRING YOUNG PEOPLE

The team is dedicated to motivating the next generation by sharing their experiences with schools and youth organizations, as well as hosting events that encourage others to seek adventurous lives. During their journey, the Oardinary Buoys will represent two charities: the British Heart Foundation and Fulham Reach Boat Club.

Lighthouse is proud to support the Oardinary Buoys, as their values resonate with ours. At Lighthouse, we strive to offer reliable, high-performance torches for professionals and adventurers. This challenge will showcase what can be accomplished with the right gear and the determination to succeed.
